Four Trees & Other September Goals

This month I’ve worked to cross a few things off my to-do list around the house.  Framing these four pictures was one of them.  For the last several years I’ve been taking pictures of our maple tree in the backyard.  I envisioned framing four pictures of the tree – in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.  I finally went through all of the photos, chose four, and found a frame that would work.  I love it.  And I love our tree.

Every month I’ve been trying to clean out a drawer or cabinet around the house.  This month I cleaned out under our bathroom sinks.  I threw away everything we weren’t using and did a through cleaning.  When I just tackle one or two cabinets at a time it takes so little time to finish.  I think that’s the key for me.  I also got to the bottom of the piles on the desk and am aiming to keep that work space clear of more piles.  So hard for me.

Another goal I had this month was to have some people over for dinner.  I noticed recently that we haven’t been entertaining nearly as much as we used to.  I think as we’ve moved into a busier season with the kids, any down time we have we tend to hole up at home and spend our time together, away from the crazy of the world.  We will still need to do that at times, but Kenny and I firmly believe in hospitality and reaching out to others, and I wanted to make an effort to do that.  We had some neighbors over for a fire and s’mores one night which was so fun.  And, we had Kenny’s brother, Michael over while he was in town this week.  Both events weren’t anything huge but were a step in the right direction.  I have a running list of others we’d like to have over soon and hope to make that happen in the coming months.

Now time to look at October and think about some goals…
