The Daily Audio Bible

Recently I’ve really been enjoying the Daily Audio Bible podcast.  I’ve listened to DAB for years and have mentioned it before, but it’s worth mentioning again.  If you’re looking for a way to listen to scripture, I can’t recommend this enough.

Brian Hardin, the host, reads a section of scripture every day and comments at the end.  He reads a portion of the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, & Proverbs.  If you’ve ever read through The One Year Bible, it’s a similar layout.  His commentary is always enlightening and honest – this man knows his bible.  Brian, once a successful record producer, left his career when the Lord led him to pursue DAB.  I, along with many others around the globe, are so glad he listened and obeyed.

I listen while I’m getting ready in the mornings, while I’m folding laundry, while I’m making dinner.  I usually still take time to read and study on my own also, but for the days that are busy, I especially enjoy listening to this.  If I never get back to my quiet time chair again that day, at least I’ve heard the Word of God and it can permeate my soul as I go about my day.  If you struggle with reading scripture every day, this might be something you’d enjoy.

The DAB app also includes a Chronological podcast, Psalms, Proverbs, Kids, and En Espanol podcasts.  Brian’s wife, Jill, reads some of these, and their kids participate and read on the Kids podcast.  So sweet.

I’m always amazed at how God’s Word can come alive.  Passages that I’ve read and heard for years and years suddenly seem fresh and are full of meaning.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12
