This past Christmas, James’s Pap & Oma signed him up for a kids soccer class. James is in the 2 1/2 -3 1/2 year old class and they meet every Saturday morning for 50 minutes for 12 weeks. It is a parent/child class (in this case grand-parent/child) and Ken is accompanying James on the field for every class. At first I was a little hesitant to get James involved in organized sports already, but it is turning out to be great and James is loving it. I think Ken is too, even if he is a little winded after each class. 🙂
For kids this young they work on gross motor skills through a variety of activities. There are soccer balls involved, but that is just a portion of what they do. If he continues the classes as he gets older he will begin to learn soccer skills and rules of the game. James is having a great time and is learning so much more than how to run and kick a ball. He’s practicing how to listen and follow directions, and work alongside other kids.
Thanks Pap & Oma!
Looks like so much fun!!!
