In June we traveled across much of Nebraska and had a great time! We drove to Ogallala to see my parents and grandfather, and then on to Norfolk with my parents for a cousin’s wedding and to see my grandmother. We spent quite a bit of time in the car over the 5 days we were gone, but really enjoyed seeing all of our family. Here are some highlights of our trip!
Playing in great-grandma’s yard…
Visiting my great uncle, Lyle, on his farm…My dad helped his uncle on the farm when he was a boy through his teenage years. He milked cows, fed chickens & hogs, helped with the haying process as well as butchering chickens. Uncle Lyle is now 92 and still lives on the farm. When we arrived he was hoeing in the garden, using his golf cart to get around. Amazing.
Whenever there’s a family gathering, we always have a picture of Dad cutting the meat. 🙂
My lovely grandmother and mother…
Pictures from my cousin Chelsea’s wedding… She was married on the farm where she grew up. This is the same farm where my grandparents raised my mom and all six of her siblings; my uncle and his family still live there today.
Jessica, James, & Grandma…
James asleep and missing out on some great clouds!
On the way back to Ogallala, we stopped in North Platte to visit Bailey Yard, the largest switching yard in the world! Kenny and I have visited here before, but they recently built a new visitor center with an observation deck.
We also stopped at Fort Cody in North Platte; a Buffalo Bill Cody gift shop and museum.
Back at my parent’s house in Ogallala…
Sharing an apple with grandma on break at work…
Playing cards with great-grandpa…
Another cute pic of James asleep…
On the way back to Colorado we saw more amazing clouds…
James finally tired of being in the car…
As we pulled into the garage, someone was very happy!
We had a great time on this trip and are so thankful for all of the family we were able to see along the way. Maybe we’re ready for a longer road trip next!
Adorable pics!! I would love to see you all sometime. Let me know if you ever stop in Omaha. These pics brought back good memories of our Ogallala days. 🙂
Love, Ann
