Flood of 2010

This is kind of a silly post, but since I bothered to take the pictures back in July and I’m trying to catch up on blogging, I thought I’d include it.

In July, we had quite the rainstorm, which produced some flooding on our street.  Months ago, you may remember a post about all of the rock we brought in for landscaping.  Unfortunately, some of the rock washed away in this storm and even one of the railroad ties we had nailed into the ground started floating away.  Kenny did brave the elements to retrieve that.  The next day he took the shovel and wheel barrow to recover some of the rock from the gutters along the street.

In another storm one year we witnessed cars dodging trash cans floating down the street!  Thankfully, we didn’t see that again!

This was also the storm that flooded part of our basement.  Fun times.  The rain came so hard and so fast that our window wells filled up, and we had water pouring into one of our basement windows.  With the help of much of our family, every single towel in our house, as well as towels from their homes, a dehumidifier, and two shop vacs, we were able to clean up most of the mess that evening.  Well after midnight, Kenny and I decided to turn all the fans on and go to bed.  Praise God we didn’t have any permanent damage!

You just never know what kind of weather you’re going to have in Colorado!
