New sunglasses

Prepare yourselves for another silly, random post.

A few months ago I bought a new pair of sunglasses.  Not really anything special to most people, right?  Many probably go through several pair of sunglasses just in one year.

Not me.  I’ve had the same pair of sunglasses for about 10 years.  I actually remember buying them shortly after I moved to Colorado in 2000.  What can I say?  I’m not hard on glasses, and while styles have changed over the years, I just kept wearing mine.  It was still in good shape, why buy a new pair?  The soft case I’ve used all of these years for my sunglasses actually has the name and address of the eye doctor I saw while living at home in Nebraska!  Crazy!

Well, this summer, the sunglasses became scratched and I found they were causing me problems while driving.  So, I spent weeks thinking about what style of glasses I would buy.  I found a magazine article that matched up your face shape to a certain style of sunglasses.  I took the page to book club and asked the ladies for advice.  And, ultimately, I took my husband with me when it was time to shop.  We found a pair that was cheap (under $10), similar to my old pair but not identical (not too much change all at once!), and that looked good.  Kenny really wanted me to buy aviator sunglasses but, thankfully I nixed those pretty quickly.

Many of you will probably not even notice a difference in these pictures, but alas, there is.

So, since I thrive on routine and love my life and home being extremely structured and organized, you can imagine that a new pair of sunglasses after all these years is a pretty big deal.  🙂  (Am I really this lame?)  Then you throw in a cup of decaf coffee and wow! – my life is completely different all in a matter of a few months!  🙂
