Valentine’s Day

I love celebrating Valentine’s Day.  Not the way some women do, expecting gifts, flowers, or even jewelry from their husbands.  The expectations wrapped up in this holiday are pretty ridiculous to me.  I love celebrating Valentine’s Day SIMPLY.  There have been years where we went out to dinner together, but I always enjoyed preparing a fun meal at home for us in addition.  And now with kids, it’s even more fun because they love it too!

Valentine’s Day helps me remember the past…the day I met Kenny almost 12 years ago.  The day each of our children were born and how I fell in love with them the moment I saw them.  I love having each of them in my life and Valentine’s Day is a just another reason to say, “I love you” and to do something special.

This year James helped me prepare red velvet cupcakes, pink Kool-Aid, strawberries, tomatoes & mozzarella, and a heart-shaped pizza.  We had a great time having our red, pink, and white dinner together.

A few days later, Kenny and I were also able to have our first date night since Anna was born!  It was wonderful!  We dressed up a little and visited one of our favorite restaurants – The Mona Lisa.

Kenny, James, and Anna…I love you!
