Precious Moments 2

We have so many great conversations and moments with the kids…I want to have a record of them here.  So, nothing mind blowing, but definitely sweet times I want to remember.  Enjoy.

In the car coming home from bible study several months ago:
Who was the ‘H’ today, James?
Hannah!
Oh!  Tell me about Hannah.
Well, she had no child and didn’t have a baby.  And she was sad.  Then she asked God for   her child.
What happened next?
God gave her a child!
What was his name?
I don’t know.
Was it Samuel?
Yeah!  (A perplexed look from James in the rearview mirror).  Mom, did you hear us talking at church?
No, but I’ve read about Hannah and Samuel in the bible.
Ohhh.

While taking James up for rest time today, he had his phone (a real cell phone that’s dead) and said he needed to text Joshua.  Joshua is a new boy James met in his class at church today (our church’s child care center while I’m at bible study).  He said they’d had a meeting where James talked to him about fire safety and he just needed to text him a message.  Great.  Can’t believe my boy is talking about texting.

Two nights ago after putting James to bed in footy pajamas, we find him several hours later with his pajamas and underwear laying on the floor.  I expected to find him naked in bed, but instead I see that he’s fully clothed in jeans, a T-shirt, socks, and new underwear. Too funny.  When he woke up the next morning, he was so proud saying, “Look!  I’m already dressed for the day!”

Our sweet Anna has quite a sense of humor and has learned how to tickle pretty well.  Her   method is to lift your shirt, find some skin, and start tickling!  Sometimes she’ll even make little high-pitched noises – “tickle, tickle, tickle”.  She’s pretty sly too; gets you when you least expect it.

A few weeks ago after putting James to bed we heard him up walking around in his room, so Kenny decided to go check it out.  He came back down, smiled, and said he just couldn’t go in and tell James he had to go to bed.  James was sitting in bed with his head lamp on, reading books.  How can you break that up?  Later we discovered his insect book and butterfly net in bed with him under the covers.  You just never know when you’re going to need to catch a bug.

*************

And finally, recently James told me that he was so glad that Dad and I picked him to be in our family.  Awww.  I explained to him how God picked him (and Anna) to be in our family and that we would be forever grateful.

Love, love, love these kids and all the joy they bring to our lives.

  1. James may be learning to text, but at least he’s already teaching his friends about fire safety! That makes me proud! 🙂
