Valentine’s Day was a little more laid back this year. Kenny surprised me with flowers and chocolate dipped strawberries in the morning, which was so fun. They are beautiful and really do cheer me up while not feeling great. And, the strawberries were a great dessert after dinner. He also brought home a heart-shaped pizza for dinner, which the kids were so excited about. Grandma Mary Jo joined us for dinner, which was fun, too.
Typically, we would have made some valentines to send to family or made decorated sugar cookies, but this year it was just a little too much.
We settled instead for watching “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown”. It’s not a holiday around here without Charlie Brown. I know some have probably banned Charlie Brown shows from their house, but I just can’t bear to do it. There are some unkind comments between the Peanuts gang now and again, but we’ve just used them as teaching moments. I grew up loving all of those shows and think it’s great that my kids enjoy it now, too. Definitely a fun tradition in our house.
Hope you had a wonderful day celebrating with the people you love!
