Sushi Dinner
Taking down all of the Christmas decorations and getting the house cleaned up is a big job. In years past I’ve been able to do most of the work myself, but this year, it took all of us. The kids were a huge help and we treated them to dinner out. Their choice: Sushi. It takes quite a bit of sushi to feed everyone these days but was a fun night out together after a hard day of work.
Ice Skating
The kids have been wanting to try ice skating, so one warm day we headed downtown to the park. Kenny, the only skater with any skill, patiently helped the three of us. One side of the rink was blocked off which meant there was no wall to hang on to. Bummer. So, he carefully helped each of us across the rink to the other side. James is much like me and was slow to let go of the wall, but eventually did and did a great job. Anna, on the other hand, just went for it. From the beginning she was asking Kenny to take her to the middle. She skated the longest and by the end was skating on her own. Amazing! Such a fun outing together.
Trains
We were invited to our friends after Christmas to run trains and had a great visit together. They always have quite the Christmas train display around their tree. While the guys run trains, Corene and I usually enjoy playing piano duets together. Read more about our train buddies and how we met them here.
Date Night
Dinner and a movie with my favorite guy!
I am amazed your kids like sushi! Actually, no one in our family likes it, including the adults. =)
We went ice skating at Sertich on NYE–there was a Groupon at the time, which might be worth checking into. It was Naomi’s first time–she did pretty well but needed a lot of breaks.
Maybe Anna would like figure skating lessons!! …or driving the Zamboni!!
