**The next several posts will be catch-up posts; events from awhile ago that I never got around to sharing.
This Easter was far more laid back than other years. We held James’ 8th birthday party the day before, so I delegated Easter this year. Lynn, Ryan, and Mary Jo handled the egg hunt for the kids – they filled the eggs and even hid them in our yard. That was such a big help. And, I booked reservations at a restaurant for Easter dinner. One big party in one weekend was enough.
On one hand I felt like our Easter celebration was missing something not having a home-cooked feast. On the other hand, it eliminated lots of work that often distracts me from the point of Easter. This year without preparations to do (although we were prepping for the birthday party at the same time) I did have a little more time to read and discuss with the kids – all of the many children’s books and bibles we have about Christ’s death and resurrection. And, each year they understand just a bit more, and this glorious day becomes a little more personal to them. I’d rather spend time getting into their hearts than cooking any day.
