James’ Year in Cub Scouts

James had a great year in Cub Scouts.  We chose a den close to our house, our neighborhood school, but that meant that James didn’t know any of the boys very well. Choosing the den that met at his school would have been better for that, but also a drive for every den and pack meeting.  This location worked better for our family, and by the end of the year, James definitely knew some of the boys better.

James learned some wonderful skills, earned some cool badges and patches, and overall enjoyed the year.  Here are some of the highlights…

The Pinewood Derby…Kenny and James worked hard together making his car and it turned out great.  We all attended the Derby and it was great fun watching the boys get so excited about the races.

Hiking…

Recycling project…Out of recycling boxes and bottles James and Kenny built a spaceship from Star Wars called the “Ghost”.

Cake Baking with Dad…James was supposed to make a cake with the Non-Cook in the family, the person who doesn’t do most of the cooking.  James chose a Devil’s Food cake recipe and their cake was beautiful and delicious!

James, we are so proud of you for trying Cub Scouts this year.  It wasn’t always comfortable for you, but you stepped out of your comfort zone many times and for that we say, “Well Done!”
