Home Alone

Kenny was out of town for three days last week for a work conference in San Francisco. He rarely has to leave town for work and we are grateful for that.  I’ve said before that our family works best when the four of us are together, and I’m grateful that he doesn’t travel often.

The kids don’t love it when daddy’s gone, but I will say that this time was far easier. It’s good that they miss Kenny, of course, but because the kids are older, overall it went much smoother than previous trips.  We had a few tears after we dropped him off, and when Anna asked me what could make her happier, we decided to crank the music on the way home and sing and dance as loud as we could.  That did the trick quickly.

We kept busy with the normal summer things we’ve been doing and threw in some extra fun things too.  We made homemade lemonade (before Kenny left so he could enjoy it too!), went bowling, made Muddy Buddies (or Puppy Chow), had a movie night, made little pizzas on English muffins and had G’ma join us for dinner.

Kenny arrived home safely; the kids and I were so happy to see him!
