Girls’ Night out…

I love this picture of James – using my hairdryer and wearing the purple sweatshirt Kenny made in Jr. High

Part of why we love our new house – there is room for a trampoline in the backyard!  Kenny, James, Anna, and Clara (the six-year-old daughter of our friends next door) put the trampoline together one afternoon.  I love that Clara is the one holding the instructions in some of the pictures.  The kids love the trampoline – and Clara loves it too!

A Veterans Day display of flags

In November, Kenny helped with an outdoor recording our church did at Glen Eyrie Castle for the Christmas concert.  Kenny added some lighting behind the choir (against the stone wall) since they were filming at dusk.  The end result was beautiful.  In the Christmas concert in December, the piece begins with the video of the choir singing, and then transtitions to them singing live in the concert.  It really was a nice effect.  This just shows a bit of the behind-the-scenes work to make it happen.

In November, Kenny and I went to see the movie C.S. Lewis: The Most Reluctant Convert, and we were the only ones in the theater! Kinda fun but wished it were full to support the movie.

I love these snapshots of the kids reading…

Thanksgiving 2021…

Halloween 2021

Last fall, Halloween came just a few weeks after we moved.  This was the first year we weren’t with family and the first year the four of us didn’t trick or treat together – the end of an era!  James really wanted to hang out with his best bud, Caden, so we agreed.  He and Caden, and Caden’s sister did trick or treat and James came home with a ridiculous amount of candy.  Kenny, Anna, and myself were invited to one of Anna’s friends to trick or treat and hang out with a couple of other families.

For the longest time, Anna was set on being Hermoine from Harry Potter, but with the move, we just couldn’t find costume pieces in time.  Instead, we found a cute cheetah costume she fell in love with.  Kenny worked his magic again with her makeup which turned out great.  Anna decided to still decorate a Harry Potter pumpkin and save the Hermoine costume for another year.  And James, once again, wore his dragon mask, painted a new color.  I think this is the third year James has used this mask.  He just keeps spray painting it and calling it good.  Works for me!

Skillet Concert

In early October we saw Skillet in concert right here in town!  We had this concert on the calendar long before we knew we were moving that month.  So, it was a busy time, but thankful we made the time to go.  Jen Ledger (drummer – related to us by marriage), graciously got us VIP tickets which included seats in the 3rd row, a Q&A before the show and the meet and greet with the band.  We met the band four years ago when they were in Denver, but at the time the kids were a bit small to stay for a late concert.  Not anymore!  Skillet puts on an amazing show and we all had such a great time.

“Invincible”

While I’ve come to enjoy Skillet’s rock music over the years, their ballads are still my favorites.

“Lions”

Today we live, today we breathe
Today we know that we are strong when we are weak
Today we trust, we overcome
Take every chain that kept us slaves and throw em’ off

We’re not waiting for permission
We defy our inhibition
Like our middle name is “fearless”
Unafraid

If we’re gonna fly, we fly like eagles
Arms out wide
If we’re gonna fear, we fear no evil
We will rise
By Your power, we will go
By Your spirit, we are bold
If we’re gonna stand, we stand as giants
If we’re gonna walk, we walk as lions
We walk as lions

“Anchor”

Drifting beneath the horizon
Body is weak but I’m trying
To make it to shore, but I’m falling short
I need You more
Wave after wave, I’ve been sinking
So unto Your promise I’m clinging
You say that I’m strong, to You I belong
Keep holding on

You are my anchor
So steady me, steady me now
You are my anchor
You’re keeping my feet on the ground
In angry oceans, You’ve never broken through
Every wave of the storm
You are my anchor
So steady me, steady me now
Come steady me, steady me now
