For many years we have attended the Balloon Festival over Labor Day weekend. The two of us went before we were married, after we were married, and now with kids. I think we took a break for a few years when the kids were babies, but other than that, we try to go every year.
Honestly, when this year rolled around, Kenny and I would have been happy to skip. But at this point, this event has become a tradition in our family, and the kids now expect it to happen. They look forward not only to seeing the balloons, but also to the fun McDonald’s drive thru breakfast, and the the donuts we pick up afterwards. And what can we say, it’s always an enjoyable time. We are making more family memories together, and traditions are so important in a family. It gives every member stability and says “This is who we are”.
So, we rolled out of bed while it was still dark and rounded up the troops. We had a beautiful, Colorado morning together and it was so worth it.
