Fall Picnic

Our weather has been SO amazing this fall.  We’ve had a few cool days here and there, but for the most part it’s been pretty warm.  James continues to wear shorts to school; I think he’s worn pants a total of 3-4 days so far.  And, I wore flip-flops trick-or-treating!  I don’t think it’s ever been that warm on Halloween!  Typically we’re trying to find a way for the kids to wear winter coats under their costumes.

So a few weeks ago when Anna asked if we could eat lunch outside on the lawn, we went for it.  It had been a pretty crazy morning full of errands and we had a somewhat full afternoon too.  I had been praying through the morning that God would give me an opportunity to slow down in the midst of it.  Having a slow lunch was exactly what we needed.  I talked with Anna about how God used her to answer my prayer that day.  After we ate we laid on our backs and looked at the sky and the birds.  We noticed a huge nest in one of our trees and imagined what kind of bird it belonged to.  It was such a perfect bit of time with my girl, and I’m so glad she asked.
